Sports Medicine
UPMC Sports Medicine, a part of the UPMC Department of Orthopaedic Surgery, is recognized as one of the top programs of its kind in the country, and combines a state-of-the-art facility with comprehensive sports medicine programs that are intended for the professional athlete as well as the weekend enthusiast. Our services include injury prevention and rehabilitation, orthopaedic surgery, neuromuscular research and assessment, sport-specific performance training, mental training, sports massage therapy, and sports nutrition.

Sports Medicine to the Pros
UPMC Sports Medicine's team of orthopaedic specialty surgeons, primary care sports medicine physicians, physical therapists, and athletic trainers is the sports medicine provider for the Pittsburgh Steelers, University of Pittsburgh Panthers, the Pittsburgh Penguins, the Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre, and numerous individual professional and amateur elite athletes from around the world.

Physical Rehabilitation
Working hand-in-hand with the UPMC Department of Orthopaedic Surgery, the UPMC Institute for Rehabilitation and Research (IRR) offers patients a full range of effective and efficient physical therapy treatment for orthopaedic-related conditions. Many times, physical therapy is the only treatment necessary in resolving bone, muscle, and joint disorders making physical rehabilitation a vital part of treatment. With more than 65 inpatient and outpatient locations in western Pennsylvania, a UPMC IRR physical therapy facility is usually close to home or work.
